Introduction to the NGRP
The National Grain Research Platform (NGRP) was launched as a vehicle to support the national grain and oilseed industry through research and innovation. The NGRP was established with a vision to
- Increase collaboration between government, industry and local Research Institutions
- Increase engagements between grain and oilseed stakeholders
- Promote industry-relevant, outcomes-based research
- Ensure training and development of human capacity

How we achieve our objectives
To achieve these principal objectives, the NGRP maintains a close association with industry, the private sector and government for the mutual benefit of both the Programme and the Universities. Research is undertaken by the research teams of all participating Universities. Industry helps ensure relevant practical research questions are studied and ensures that practical research results are delivered in a digestible format to farmers and other industry role players.
Research
Facilitate goal-directed and industry-relevant research on priority grains and oilseeds research needs of members.
Research Access
Provide members a Platform with access to multidisciplinary research teams with specialised equipment and infrastructure.
Expertise
Ensure that a source of expertise in the specialist fields is available and aligned with needs of members
Support
Support the development of National Grain Research Platforms.
Leverage
Seek 3.1.5. Leverage capacity and resources between the Platform and other research platforms and programmes in related fields.

Meet the board
The NGRP Board of Control consist of members who contribute substantially and regularly to support the platform. independent chairperson, two co-directors (one from industry and one from a research institution) and other members. The Board also have an independent chairperson and two co-directors (from industry and academia) who serve 3-year terms.
